The University of Iowa awarded nearly 2,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students degrees at the close of the 2022 fall semester. Eleven percent of the undergraduates graduated with multiple degrees and, as a group, undergraduates posted a 3.17 cumulative grade point average during their stay at Iowa.

More than 870 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the president's list for the 2022 fall semester. President's list status was earned by only two first year undergraduates during the 2022 fall semester; only 133 second year students; only 270 third year students; and only 405 fourth year students.

More than 7,500 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the dean's list for the 2022 fall semester. Dean's list status was earned by only 2,427 first year undergraduates during the 2022 fall semester at Iowa, only 1,768 second year students, only 1,503 third year students, and only 1,845 fourth year students.

Aline Thiengmany: First Generation and Low Income in Medicine Association

Aline Thiengmany, a first-year medical student, says she has always been interested in a career in medicine. Her parents emigrated from Laos, and they raised Thiengmany and her younger sister. "It's confusing enough for people who were born here," Thiengmany says, "but it's very difficult for people who don't speak the language, aren't financially stable, or have low health literacy. Helping him navigate his health got me interested in medicine and working with marginalized groups as a health care provider."
