University of Iowa student receives GEICO Award

2016 Jul 20

Two local university students received $2,500 GEICO Achievement Awards for their outstanding academic accomplishments and campus leadership.

The GEICO Achievement Award Program was created more than 25 years ago to recognize undergraduate students who have excelled both inside and outside of the classroom. Award recipients demonstrate a dedication to academic success, leadership and community service. Pete Rizzo, GEICO sales and service director for Iowa, is proud to recognize this year's local winners:

Katie Agey University of Iowa

Rachel Hebbeln University of Northern Iowa

"These $2,500 GEICO scholarships will help encourage continued success for these students," said GEICO President and COO Bill Roberts. "We know they have the potential to become the next generation of business and community leaders. We wish them the best of luck in pursuing their dreams and goals."

To be eligible for the GEICO Achievement Award Program, students must be currently enrolled full-time in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited four-year college or university, possess sophomore or junior status, have at least a 3.0 overall GPA, and be majoring in business, computer science, mathematics or a related program.
