Ryan Oliveira earns Stanley Award for International Research

Ryan Oliveira, a master of fine arts student in theatre arts, will pursue a project abroad thanks in part to a $2,500 Stanley Award for International Research.

Ryan, originally from Miami, FL, will travel to Lisbon, Portugal, to focus on writing and staging a play that translates and engages with the untranslatable Portuguese concept of saudade.

Funded by the Stanley-University of Iowa Foundation Support Organization, the Stanley Awards send UI undergraduate and graduate students to locations around the world. Student spend at least four weeks abroad pursuing projects they couldn't conduct on campus.
