Kiran Sapkota earns Stanley Award for International Research

Kiran Sapkota, a Ph.D. student in epidemiology, will pursue a project abroad thanks in part to a $2,500 Stanley Award for International Research.

Kiran, originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, will travel to Chitwan, Nepal, to understand the risk factors associated with oral cancer in the Nepalese population.

Funded by the Stanley-University of Iowa Foundation Support Organization, the Stanley Awards send UI undergraduate and graduate students to locations around the world. Student spend at least four weeks abroad pursuing projects they couldn't conduct on campus.
