Kathryn Langenfeld earns Stanley Award for International Research

Kathryn Langenfeld, a second-year undergraduate student in environmental engineering and mathematics, will pursue a project abroad thanks in part to a $2,500 Stanley Award for International Research.

Kathryn, originally from Iowa City, IA, will travel to Matagalpa, Nicaragua, to assess the feasibility of implementing a river monitoring system.

Funded by the Stanley-University of Iowa Foundation Support Organization, the Stanley Awards send UI undergraduate and graduate students to locations around the world. Student spend at least four weeks abroad pursuing projects they couldn't conduct on campus.
