Abhinav Sharma receives University of Iowa student employee honors

Abhinav Sharma, a third-year student in mechanical engineering, has received certificate of appreciation honors recognizing exemplary work as a student employee at the University of Iowa.

The Cameroon, , native was one of seven UI students recognized for reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, and uniqueness of their contributions. The National Student Employment Association establishes criteria for the awards.

Sharma is an undergraduate research assistant in the Center for Computer Aided Design. He has developed a facial expression engine for the advanced virtual soldier simulation Santos, and now is working on a muscle model—delivering work in weeks and months rather than years. He also represents the Virtual Soldier Research lab during events and tours.

Sharma and other UI award recipients will be honored during an April 22 luncheon with UI President Sally Mason.
